VanPutten opens new office in Michigan City

8/7/2015 (Michigan City, IN) - One of Michigan City's most trusted eye doctors and surgeons has opened a new office in Michigan City. Douglas VanPutten, MD, who has been providing expert eye care to La Porte County communities for more than 25 years, has joined IU Health La Porte Physicians. VanPutten began seeing patients this week in his new office in Michigan City at IU Health LifeWorks, 3777 N. Frontage Road.
VanPutten is a highly-skilled eye doctor and surgeon who is fellowship-trained and specialized in ophthalmic reconstructive plastic surgery. HE also treats common conditions such as blurred vision, cataracts, drooping eyelids that block vision, and reconstructions as a result of trauma, cancer or other conditions.
"I'm pleased to have new equipment in the office and be able to use the latest technology to treat my patients," VanPutten said. He is in a select group of only about 600 physicians in the nation who are fellowship-trained in his specialty.
VanPutten is well-known for paying special attention to each patient during every exam. "I purposefully leave the charting laptop out of the exam room, because otherwise I'd have my back to the patient while trying to record their information. I prefer to site face to face with my patients, look them in the eye, listen, and conduct exams that are meaningful to the patient. Everyone's time is valuable, so I will usually chart after the patient has already left."
