Northwest Health Offers Free Talk on What’s New in Surgery
8/13/2025
Today’s surgical advances are helping patients heal better, feel better and get back to life sooner. The community is invited to hear more about how surgery has changed – and continues to change – in a friendly, easy-to-understand talk with Northwest Health General Surgeon Jeremy Luedtke, M.D.
Northwest Health will offer the free talk, “What’s New in Surgery (and Why It’s Good News for Patients),” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Aug. 27, 2025, at Northwest Health – Porter, Community Room, 85 E. U.S. Highway 6, Valparaiso.
From smaller incisions to faster recovery and cutting-edge robotic technology, today’s surgical techniques are designed with the patient in mind. Dr. Luedtke will share some of today’s surgical advances during his talk, as well as topics that include:
- What open, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries really involve
- Common conditions now treated with less invasive techniques
- How new technology is improving safety, accuracy and outcomes
- What to expect before, during and after surgery
There will be time for questions at the end of the talk, which is part of the Northwest Health HealthyU series, a wellness program that provides free seminars on various health and wellness topics for the community.
“Surgery today is not just about treating conditions, but whenever possible doing so in a way that’s safer, less invasive and helps patients recover faster,” Dr. Luedtke said. “Many patients are surprised to learn just how much has changed, and how these advancements can make their surgical experiences smoother.”
